One of the most important things when considering the design of a website is the placement of the content. Internet users and shoppers generally know that if they don’t find what they’re looking for immediately on your site, they will find it on the next one. So placement of your most important information is critical in the design stage of your web presence.

If you’re selling a product, or offering a service, be sure to put that product or service right where your customer is going to look at it. NOT where you think it should be. Many helpful informational sites exist, like Alertbox and others to help you decide where to put your content and what it should say. Even if you have are not selling directly from your site, be sure to put your contact information in the right spot.

According to a Jacob Nielsen study, people generally use an “F” shaped patter when scanning a website. The study was done by having web surfers wear glasses that allowed them to track the focusing of the person on various website. Read The Full Report.  Generally people tended to focus in the “F” shaped pattern which in turn means your web design should put your most important information in this space. This and many other things can help when designing your website. Contact us at Hawaii Web Design for more details.
